Off to a Great Start! “Getting Your Community Built”

The "Getting Your Community Built Workshop" held on March 23rd at Harbourside Cohousing was a resounding success! We had 23 Associate Members, along with their families, fully engaged in learning about the process of building a cohousing community.

Alastair, Ronaye, and Margaret from our professional team gave insightful summaries of the decision making process, development process, legal and financial structures, and site selection—all vital for groups starting a cohousing project. Our members also began outlining a vision for their community, crucial for shaping the future of the cohousing project.

The potluck lunch and complimentary childcare enhanced the day, making it more enjoyable and inclusive for everyone. Despite the rain, the tour of Harbourside Cohousing gave people a clear idea of what cohousing living is all about.

It was inspiring to witness such a strong interest in creating a cohousing community in Victoria! Following the workshop, some Associate Members committed to increasing their investments to $5,000 to become Pre-equity members. This will greatly support the site feasibility process, which is already well underway.

Now is a great time to get involved! Join as an Associate member and participate in all decisions made by consensus. Then decide if you want to increase your commitment. Pre-equity members will soon be making key decisions about site selection.
